Transition from school to adult life
centers on a systematic planning process, which includes students,
their families, their teachers, and a variety of other professionals
and, occasionally, friends. This time of transition also can be
described as a time of intense change in the lives of young people and
their families. The stakes for helping young people make a successful
transition are high because the impact of such efforts during this time
period will affect the remainder of their adult lives. This session
will provide a variety of viewpoints from professionals and a student
on the importance of planning and input to create successful
transitions for individuals with disabilities.
