Education for All

At A Glance - Overview

This fall, Loyola Marymount University's School of Education will host a week-long conference to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Public Law 94-142, The Education for All Handicapped Children Act.

This historic legislation was the first to guarantee all students with disabilities the right to a free and appropriate public education.

The Commemoration will include a number of Speaker Panels and Best Practices Sessions, Documentary Screenings, and a Parent Workshop. Through these events we intend to critique the implementation of this law (currently the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act ) by bringing policymakers together with researchers, practitioners, and families. The event will also recognize individuals in the field who actively support people with disabilities and their families through their ongoing work and advocacy.
